Instructions for checking browser settings for troubleshooting problems
with loading courses
The browser configuration instructions below contain directions
to configure various web browsers for the best course experience.
Many errors and issues are related to incorrect configurations and/
or cache (temporary internet files). Find the title of your
browser on the list below and follow the instructions listed for that
browser.
IE 6
Instructions for configuring your browser to work with our courses
are below. We recommend that you close all browser windows except
one before completing the steps below to ensure all changes are made
properly.
A. Firewalls and Security Software
Web filters or firewall programs such as Zone Alarm, Norton Internet
Security, and others must allow MindLeaders as a trusted site. With
many of these programs, an exception of simply "*.mindleaders.com"
(no quotation marks) needs to be allowed.
Because there are so many personal and corporate firewall programs,
we are unable to explain how to make changes to your firewall or provide
technical support for it. Please consult your firewall/security software’s
help documentation for further information. If you are logging on
from work, please contact your internal IT Helpdesk before attempting
to make any changes to your security settings.
B. Allow Pop-Up Windows
Because our site uses pop-up windows, please make sure Internet Explorer's
popup blocker is disabled by doing the following:
1. Choose Tools-> Internet Options.
2. Click on the Privacy Tab.
3. If there is a check mark next to Enable Pop-up Blocker, remove
it.
C. Make sure the browser accepts cookies from mindleaders.com:
1. Choose Tools-> Internet Options.
2. Choose the Privacy tab.
3. Click the Sites button.
4. Enter mindleaders.com into the address line and click Allow.
D. Toolbars
Add-on browser toolbars such as Google and Yahoo (as well as others)
can interfere with the functionality of our courses. Please disable
all such toolbars:
1. Choose View->Toolbars
2. Remove the check marks from everything listed there, except: Standard
Toolbars, Address Bar, Links, and Lock the Toolbar
E. Let the browser choose the correct character encoding:
1. Click on View->Encoding.
2. Make sure there is a check mark next to Auto-Select. If there isn’t,
click Auto-Select to enable it.
F. Delete Temporary Internet Files and Cookies
Once the changes mentioned above have been made, please clear your
browser's cache to ensure that all content related to our courses
is allowed to load "fresh" from our server.
1. Choose Tools-> Internet Options.
2. In the section labeled Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Cookies,
then click OK to confirm when prompted.
3. Also in the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Delete
Files button, then click OK to confirm when prompted. It is not required
to choose the Delete all offline content option.
4. Click the Settings button to the right of Delete Files. Choose
the option to check for newer versions of stored pages either Automatically
or Every time I visit the webpage.

1. Click the Pop-ups Blocked alert at the bottom right-hand corner
of the browser tab.
2. Select Always show pop-ups from (site).
C. Make sure the browser accepts cookies from mindleaders.com:
1. Choose Tools (the wrench icon at the upper right-hand corner of
the window) -> Options, then click the Under the Hood tab.
2. Scroll down to Cookie settings. Make sure the setting is not configured
to “block all cookies”.
D. Let the browser choose the correct character encoding:
1. Choose Page (icon to the left of the wrench in the upper right-hand
corner)
2. Choose Encoding->Auto detect
E. Delete Temporary Internet Files and Cookies
1. Choose Tools->Options->Personal Stuff->Clear browsing
data…
2. Make sure the boxes for Empty the cache and Delete cookies are
checked, and that the dropdown menu for Clear Data from this period:
is set to Everything.
3. Click Clear Browsing Data
Firefox

2. Remove the check mark from Block pop-up windows.
C. Make sure the browser accepts cookies from mindleaders.com:
1. Choose Tools->Options->Privacy
2. Click the Exceptions… button to the right of Accept cookies
from sites.
3. In the field under Address of web site:, type mindleaders.com (no
http:// or www) and click Allow, then Close.
D. Toolbars
1. Choose View->Toolbars and remove check marks from everything
except Navigation Toolbar and Bookmarks Toolbar.
E. Let the browser choose the correct character encoding:
1. Choose View->Character Encoding->Auto-Detect->Universal
F. Delete Temporary Internet Files and Cookies
1. Choose Tools->Clear Recent History
2. Make sure the boxes for Cookies and Cache are checked, and that
the dropdown menu for Time range to clear: is set to Everything.
3. Click Clear Now.
Safari

one before completing the steps below to ensure all changes are made
properly.
A. Firewalls and Security Software

Security, and others must allow MindLeaders as a trusted site. With
many of these programs, an exception of simply “*.mindleaders.com”
(no quotation marks) needs to be allowed.

a. Choose Tools (the icon resembling a gear at the upper right-hand
corner) and remove the check mark from Block Pop-Up Windows.
C. Make sure the browser accepts cookies from mindleaders.com:
a. Choose Tools (the icon resembling a gear at the upper right-hand
corner of the window) ->Preferences->Security.
b. Make sure the setting for Accept cookies: is set to Only from sites
I visit or Always.
D. Let the browser choose the correct character encoding:
a. Choose Page (page icon to the left of the Tools menu)->Text
Encoding->UTF-8
E. Delete Temporary Internet Files
a. Press ctrl+alt+E on your keyboard, then click Empty when prompted.
F. Delete Cookies
a. Choose Tools (the icon resembling a gear at the upper right-hand
corner of the window) ->Preferences->Security.
b. Click the Show Cookies button.
c. Click the Remove All button, then click Remove All again when prompted.
Resetting Browsers (If above adjustment instructions do not
resolve your issues):
Most web browsers have some sort of reset function that disables
all add-ons and takes all settings back to default. This is useful
when the browser has been configured correctly using the instructions
above, but functionality issues are still unresolved.
IE 7, 8
I recommend you reset your browser back to the default settings. This
action will disable all browser add-ons (but will not uninstall anything)
and will take all settings back to default.
1. Choose Tools->Internet Options->Advanced
2. Click the Reset button at the bottom.
3. Optionally, you may also check the box next to Delete personal
settings. Please note that if you choose this option, personal information
such as saved passwords will also be deleted. If you do not check
the Delete personal settings option, please remember to delete your
temporary internet files after the reset has completed.
4. Once the reset has completed, close down all browser windows and
try again.
Chrome
I recommend you reset your browser back to the default settings.
This action will disable all browser add-ons (but will not uninstall
anything) and will take all settings back to default. Please note
that personal information such as saved passwords may also be deleted.
1. Choose Tools (the wrench icon at the upper right-hand corner of
the window) -> Options, then click the Under the Hood tab.
2. Click the Reset to defaults button at the bottom, then click the
Reset to defaults button to confirm.
3. Once the reset has completed, close down all browser windows and
try again.
Firefox
I recommend you reset your browser back to the default settings. This
action will disable all browser add-ons (but will not uninstall anything)
and will take all settings back to default.
1. Close down all Firefox windows.
2. In your Start Menu, navigate to Mozilla Firefox->Mozilla Firefox
(Safe Mode)
3. In the dialog box that appears, check only the boxes next to Disable
all add-ons, Reset toolbars and controls, and Reset all user preferences
to Firefox defaults. Please note that if you check the other boxes
not listed here, personal information such as saved passwords may
also be deleted.
4. Click the Make Changes and Restart button. Firefox will restart
itself once the reset has completed.
Safari
I recommend you reset your browser back to the default settings. This
action will disable all browser add-ons (but will not uninstall anything)
and will take all settings back to default.
1. Choose Tools (the icon resembling a gear at the upper right-hand
corner of the window) ->Reset Safari.
5. Place a check mark next to Clear history, Empty the cache, Remove
all cookies, and Close all Safari windows . Please note that if you
check the other boxes not listed here, personal information such as
saved passwords may also be deleted.
2. Click the Reset button.
3. Safari will restart itself once the reset has been completed.
Notes on various browsers:
1. Google Chrome 4 has a popup blocker that is always on and can’t
be fully turned off. The user can only allow popups on a site-by-site
basis after popups from that site have been blocked (Source).
2. Apple Safari 4 and Google Chrome 4 don’t allow the user to
specify domains that should always have cookies allowed or blocked.
They only let the user allow all cookies, allow only 1st-party cookies,
or block all cookies.
3. Chrome 4 and Safari 4 do not support add-on toolbars.
4. In Safari 4, there is no way to clear the cache through the menu
(only a keystroke).
5. The keystroke Ctrl + Shift + Del brings up the delete browsing
history dialog for IE 8, FF 3.5, GC 4.
